V. The Cutie Mark Crusaders Following a horn call-to-arms, the scurrying main theme acts as a refrain, framing three episodes where our heroines go off crusading. The first is a spacious theme for the brass, the second is a rolling theme for the woodwinds and pizzicato strings, and the third is yet another version of the friendship theme. Each episode ends with a rising figure, a pause to check to see if they've earned their cutie mark, and an increasingly frustrated 'awwwww' when they realize they didn't. After the third episode, the fillies are worn out, and the refrain now becomes a lullaby. But the call-to-arms sounds again in the distance, and off they go crusading again!
