Description

I've always thought the hinted dynamic between Marble Pie and Big Mac was interesting, even if it's only ever brought up once or twice in the series. I must wonder if Big Mac, before he properly connected with Sugar Belle, may have ruminated on what sort of relationship he could have with her. This song is from the perspective of Big Mac, lamenting his quiet nature and regretting his hesitation in the few fleeting moments he had to project his feelings. This song started initially as a totally different song. I really loved what I had written for that song (and I'll probably still release it someday), but I felt it was a bit too sad and didn't quite convey the vibe I was after. So, I took the original piano parts I wrote, pitched them down a few semitones, and re-wrote the song from the ground up in the newer, slightly happier and more hopeful key. I always love an excuse to play with fun vocal effects and layering, and there's no place that sort of thing shines better than on top of a slightly simpler instrumental! I hope you enjoy this one! I know it's a bit different from the other stuff I've done recently, which is partly why I didn't bother with the big spectacle Friday release I normally do: like the gentle and quiet souls of Marble Pie and Big Mac, it sorta makes itself small. More songs in my typical style are on the way, including a particularly ambitious Apple Bloom song with a fun rock section at the end that I'm SO excited to show y'all soon!
